After a week of gut punches

It’s been a very disheartening week. I’m a recently separated, soon-to-be-divorced Dad, living all the way across the country from my kids. And this week it feels like it’s been one gut punch after another.

My workload has been light lately because my clients take time off in the summer, so I’m making less money. The air conditioning shop says it’s going to be 1400 bucks to fix the AC in my truck. Then, my tire had a slow leak in it and I had to take it to the shop to get that fixed. They unmounted the wheel and found a nail in the tire.

To top off the challenging week, today is Father’s Day and I don’t have anybody to celebrate it with, so I planned to do something on my own. I started the day with a couple miles on the bike trail, then laid out in the sun for about an hour for a dose of serotonin.

I’ve been seeing ads in my social media feed for a taco place here in town that has Father’s Day milkshakes, so I hopped in my truck and started to head over there, but halfway there, I noticed a grinding noise coming from the same left front wheel on which the shop repaired the slow leak earlier in the week.
